Our website address is: This is the personal website of dr. Taede A. Smedes and is meant to inform those interested of his activities, articles, books, etc. It is also his personal weblog.

The personal data you provide are only used to inform you about weblog updates. However, for the website to function properly and to provide you with the best user experience, some plugins are used. What personal data we collect and why we collect it


When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.


If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact form

If you fill out the contact form, an e-mail is sent to Taede A. Smedes. The only personal data that is asked for filling in the form is your name and e-mail address. The information submitted in the e-mail including personal data provided is only used for contact purposes and is not used for marketing purposes. Also your personal data and e-mail content will never be provided to a third party without your permission.


If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Doel van gegevensvastlegging:

Taede A. Smedes is een zelfstandige ondernemer die als journalist werkzaam is. Ik schrijf journalistieke bijdragen voor kranten en websites, geef lezingen en treed af en toe op als gespreksleider. Dit alles gebeurt in opdracht van een of meerdere opdrachtgevers. Naar aanleiding hiervan worden facturen verstuurd, meestal per e-mail. De gegevens die als uitkomst van dit proces worden vastgelegd hebben  tot doel om de communicatie met de opdrachtgever te begunstigen.

Welke gegevens worden verzameld:

Gegevens die worden verzameld zijn vooral contactgegevens, dus naam, adres, telefoonnummer, e-mail, website.

Aan wie worden de gegevens eventueel doorgegeven:

In principe worden de gegevens aan niemand doorgegeven zonder de schriftelijke toestemming van de opdrachtgever. Een uitzondering is de belastingadviseur met wie ik een verwerkingsovereenkomst heeft. Ook de Belastingdienst kan eventueel inzage in de boekhouding eisen.

Hoe lang worden de gegevens bewaard:

Gegevens die in de boekhouding zitten worden bewaard zolang de Belastingdienst dit noodzakelijk acht. Andere gegevens, zoals namen, adressen, telefoonnummers, e-mailadressen, etc. worden onbeperkt bewaard vanuit het oogpunt van een eventuele mogelijke latere contactopname.

U kunt er zeker van zijn dat ik mijn uiterste best doe om uw gegevens te beveiligen.
